GENERAL BOTHA AT PRETORIA.
PRETORIA, July 31
It is officially stated that the surrender* of the Germans in Damaraland lias been completed. The. entire force, is accounted for, except a handful of rebels from the Union.
Ten thousand people gave General Botha an ovation at a meeting in the Amphitheatre of the Union Buildings. Crowds lined the streets. Forty municipalities and public bodies and several native tribes presented addresses.
General Botha, in replying, referred to the fertility of the conquered territory. Ho intended that tens of thousands of the Union's young people should be settled on the land there. Railways already existed, and they could proceed with the settling immediately.
