LAST NIGHT'S NEWS.
THE DARDANELLES.
THE GALLANT 29th.
LONDON, July 30
Sir lan Hamilton's despatch/ dated June 29, states that he is sure he voices the sentiments of every soldier in the army when he congratulates the incomparable 29th Division. "Yesterday a splendid attack was carried out in a manner upholding the best traditions of the distinguished regi-: ments comprising the 29th, which has suffered cruel losses from the first landing, since which it has been unable to take up its strength, and has remained under fire every hour night and day for two months.
"Opposed to them were fresh troops, entrenched and Hanked by redoubts with machine guns. Yet when called on to advance, they dashed forward eagerly, as though this was only their baptism of fire. Through entanglements they swept northward, clearing out the enemy for a full 1000 yards. Having counter-attacked- at night, they killed or captured every. Turk who penetrated their incomplete defences. 1 o-day they stand possessed of every yard so hardly gained." ' , ..'■'■'"■ Sir lan Hamilton congratulates Generals Hunter-Weston and De Lisle, and each officer and man of the division whose sustained efforts have added fresh lustre to British arms all the world over. .
