RANGITATA ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the Rangitata Road Board was held at Lismoro on Monday last. All the members were present, and Mr "William Oakley was in the chaii.
The clerk's report, the estimates, and the ranger's report having been read, Mr 11. Stevens attended to ask permission to take a small water-race down the Lismore Road for about 40 chains. —The Board decided not to object, provided the race is kept close to the fence and that the County Council will still retain control of it.
It was resolved to give notice of the Board's intention at its next meeting to strike a general rate of Hd in the £.
It was decided to put down a 10ft pipe culvert in the race below the office, at the side of the road, and to apply to the County Council for 30ft of pipes for a culvert in the centre of the road by Mr R. Lamb's, and to remove the wooden bridge now under the gorse fence.
Tho clerk reported that a good deal of damage had been done. to roads by engines, and some of the drivers were being prosecuted. The day man had repaired the damage on Trevor's Road, and was about to commence work on Cracroft Road, and would make up the appi'oaches :to fords on Windormere Road at the first opportunity. This would have been finished but for the engine trouble in other places.
The chairman stated that the purchaser of Mr Prebble's farm did not require the water on the north side of Lismore Road, and the two fords near the farm could be filled in, with advantage to everyone.
Mr Allan was authorised to have a small job at Ruapuna done, and Mr Ja.ine to confer with Mr Reid as to the condition of Haekthorne Road, near Mr Barton""s.
An occupier wa,s given leave to plough gorse, on the usual terms, and some repairs to roads and approaches to bridges near Anderson's corner and LlrMiorr v(-»ro ordered to be done.
