FIGHTING IN THE CHAMPAGNE.

DESCRIBED BY THE KAISER'S SON.

(Received July 31, 9.55 a.m.) | AMSTERDAM, July 30. The "Kaiser's son Oscar has published a book about the fighting in the Champagne district. He goes into rhapsodies regarding his troops' superhuman performances and daring the impossible. He describes thtv French artillery as terrific, and' says that within a comparatively small space the French fired 100,000 shells in one day. The rapidity of the fire resembled that of a machine gun, arid the effect was terrible. Wire entanglements were swept away and trenches were transformed into shallow cavities. He adds that only Gorman discipline, loyalty..

and heroism could have held out against it.
