A LABOUR REQUEST.
AGREEMENTS BETWEEN EMPLOYERS AND EMPLOYEES.
I '.WELLINGTON, July 31. A deputation consisting of Messrs John Kigg, D. Laraey (secretary of the New Zealand Shearers' Association)', and I). Mori arty (secretary of the --Furniture. Trade Workers' Union) waited on Air Massey to-day and asked that the Arbitration -Act-lbo amended so an to provide that, where an agreement satisfactory to the employers and employees -throughout the Dominion was arrived at in one centre it should bo registered as a Dominion agreement, instead of the Conciliation Council having to sit in various centres.
The^ deputation also asked that the ; individual citation of employers should' J be abolished and that newspaper' advertisements should .suffice.
Mr JMasscy. in replying, said that a. tremendous amount of important legislation arising out of the war had to be dealt with,' but he would ask the Labour Department • to draft a. short Bill which could be thrashed out by tbrf Labour Bills Committee and brought down in the House at the end of tha fission. ■
