STORAGE FOR WHEAT
A CANTERBURY PROPOSAL
(Per Press Association)
WELLINGTON, July 30
At the Farmers' Union conference to-day, Mr G. W. Leadley moved a remit from North Canterbury expressing the opinion that steps should be taken to devise some means of securing control of the shipment of goods and produce to and from New Zealand. Extra storage space was, he said, being provided for frozen meat, but extra wheat was being sown, and if extra means of transit were not provided the result would be a loss to growers on account of,the high freight rates that would-be demanded.
' It was decided to set- up a Shipping Committee to co-operate with any similar committee of the Chambers of Commerce or other organisations.
