GUNS HEARD IN WARSAW.

SPLENDID RUSSIAN RESISTANCE
PETROGRAD, July 29
The'thundering of guns in heavy action echoes through the streets of Warsaw, and'the arrival of wounded has convinced the population that the situation is critical, although the Russians occupy a strong line. Meanwhile there are good reports from the zone of battle immediately to the north of Warsaw. Heavy German attacks have been broken, and the enemy's losses, have been terrible.
■Tho Germans-" are making a heavy concentration behind Krasnostava, south of Cholm. Train-loads of troops are constantly arriving.. For 10 days the Germans .made continuous efforts to advance, facing the most stubborn resistance evor encountered. The Russians arc fighting the fight of their lives.
