LONDON, July 29. Reuter states that a Headquarters' despatch regarding recent operations revealed the enormous importance of bombs and hand grenades, of which unlimited quantities are needed for close fighting in the narrow trenches, intersected by innumerable traverses and formidable barricades, .with which German defence works abounds A beautifully-made unexploded bomb was recently found in our trenches; it was capable of being thrown 60 yards, and the mechanism was so contrived that it was (bound to explode whichever way it fell. , ■ German snipers use rifles with special telescopic sights, making a miss almost impossible.
