WELLINGTON, July 28
The Government Party held a meeting after the House rose a,t 5.30 this afternoon for the purpose of considering the reply received from the Opposition as a result of their caucus thi.s morning. Seen at the close of the meeting, Mr D. H. Guthrie, Chief Government Whip, stated that Mr Massey had laid the Opposition reply before the party, which reply was a refusal of the terms offered by the Government for a National Cabinet. ♦
General regret was, said Mr Guthrie, expressed by the party »that such a reply had been giveh to what were considered fair and reasonable proposals.
