HASTINGS, April 30. . There was fine weather and a good attendance for the. opening of the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's Cup meeting. The track was'in excellent order. The totalisator receipts were £19,888. as against £23,650 last year. Results:— '

Porangahau Handicap.—Croisus 1, Dinner. Gong 2, Tete-a-Tete 3 Scratched: Chortle, Beldame, Banksia, Bonny Rigg, Castalia, Veroneal, and Perceler. A' good race. Won by hah a length. Time, lmin 20 4-ssec.

Hawke's Bay Cup.—Chortle 1, Balboa 2, Multiply 3. Won easily after a good race; two lengths between second and third. Time, 2min 32 2-5 sec.

Karamu Hiirdles.~Vi 1, Master Timi 2, Sensitive 3. ' Scratched: Call\ Bridge, Monologue, and Golden Water. A protest against Vi''for encircling a hurdle was upheld, and the race was awarded to Master Timi. Time, 3min 18sec.

Poukawa Handicap.—Cervudus 1, Marimba 2, Hymen 3. Won by half a length. Time, lmin 14sec.

Autumn Handicap.—Allan Doone 1, Kaminohe 2, Diavolo 3. Scratched : Multiply, Mummer, and Red Book. A good race. Won by a neck. Time, lmin 49 l-ssec.
