AMSTERDAM.. April 24: • According to a. -statement from 'the Turkish > headquarters, Arabs attacketi' the Ayesha's crew-.while , they were- > marching through tho • desert, from Lidd, south of Jedduh. They foughi for throe days. The Arabs were driven off. The Germans lost a lieutenant aud two men killed and three wounded. The latter were placed in,hospital at J«ddah. " A German official wireless message has already 'Stated that the men reached Damascus before GU'arch 1, but there was no, mention or any , attack on! ■ them. * ■ (The above message ■ refers to the. landing party from the Erriden. After their vessel was destroyed by H.M.A.S. Sydney on November 8, they seized the schooner--Ayesha. in which they escaped- from '"the Cocos-Eeelins Islands. - ■»'■
