;LONDON, April 23. Sir John French reports that the German attacks on" Hill 60 failed,^ am; during these the enemy fired lanch shells into Ypres. We forestalled German mining operations near Armentieres by exploding a mine, " ~ -, .. ' „ A British airman attacking the Ghent ammunition shed on April- 20, ran the gauntlet of ,fire from a captive balloon, also from the ground but descended to 200 feet and effected his object, causing a large explosion.
