WAR AGAISNT TURKEY FIGHTING AT BASRA.
TURKS LOSE 6000.
The High Commissioner reports:— LONDON, April 22 (9.55 p.m.) The lates reports from the Persian Gulf state that the defeat at Shaiba was even more complete than was hoped. Motor cars and -ammunition waggons were abandoned, and there are persistent rumours of the suicide of the Turkish commander. The enemy's casualties from Monday to Thursday were 6000.
A press Association cablegram which sets out the above facts as issued by the India office adds that turn-coat Arab .tribesmen harassed the Turks in their retreat.
