The Auckland Labourers' -Union passed a resolution . protesting against the Government.under : cutting awards "in paving less, than the award rate of wages j- against 1 violating the award in regard to hours of work, and compeJl-. ing labourers to pay,train fare when they were taken, out of tov/n. It is now announced that a supply of marble to meet requirements has been. located three miles from the old quarries, but about four miles of tramline will have to bo-built over difficult country. It is stated that the Government is affording assistance in the pushing on of the- tramline, so that the newsource of supply may be available to draw upon in a, few months' time.
