A BACHELOR TAX.
MELBOURNE, April 22
In 'the Federal House, '■ Mr .Sharp (a Queensland member), amid a crossfire of iokes, advocated the imposition of a £10 tax on bachelors hotween the ages of 21 and 60. He estimated that such a tax would yield £2,000,000 Unmarried men and women, he said, wore social evils. They were making good salaries but avoiding their duties to the nation.
