Councillor Hunter 'has given' notice to move at the meeting of the Christchurch City Council on Monday: — "That a.scheme for the establishment of municipal markets and cool storage, within the city, be prepared ami placed before the electors for their endorsement, or otherwise, on the day of the general election for Mayor and councillors on April 28, 1915." Mr A. E. Wilson (president of the Christcluirch Egg ■ Farmers' Association) sent the following -, telegram to the Prime Minister yesterday. — ' " Poultrymen faced with ruin. Feed unprocurable. Can your Government .secure Argentine maize ? '■ Western Australia has secured. 600 tons." Mr Wilson states that the members of his association, which has been selling the Feather Brand egg by auction for three years, own collectively from 20,000 to 30,000-fowls, arc! unless the Government is able to remove the duty from maize and purchase -fowl feed on behalf of egg farmer?., many producers { will have to close down.
