A LINER'S NARROW ESCAPE.

MINKS EXPLODE NEAR HER BOW (Received December 17, 12.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, December 16. The Cunard liner Transylvania has arrived. She reports that she narrowly escaped destruction by a mine off the north coast of Ireland. Two mines collided a short distance in front of the bows and exploded, throwing up a huge column of water. A fragment of steel tore the railings off the vessel's side. The force of the explosion lifted the Transylvania's bow out of the water. The liner had 366 passengers aboard.
