SHIPPING CASUALTIES
COLLISION IN HAURAKf GULF. (Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, -December 17. A collision occurred in the Ponui Passage, Hauraki Gulf, last night, between the Northern Steam Ship Company's Wakatere and tho ketch Katio S., a vessel oF 20 tons, owned by James Sniith and Co. The ketch was beached on Pomii Island in a.sinking condition, ad the crew landed safely. The' Wakatere was not damaged.
