WOOLLEN MILLS DISPUTE.

(Per Press Association)

DUNEDIN, December 15. ■ In the Otago Woollen Mills Employees' dispute, the Arbitration Court has filed its award. The award operates from December 14, and remains in force until May 1, 1917. In a. memorandum to the award, his Honour writes: —"This award embodies, except as to the date from which the increase of wages is to take place, the recommendations of the Council of Conciliation, which the parties agreed to accept. Mr McCullough desires to record his dissent from the decision .of the majority of tho Court, declining- to yield to the contention of the workers' representative that the award, as regards wages, operates retrospectively as from August 1 last. He thinks that the result of the conference between the workers and employers in July last imposed upon the employers a clear moral obligation to pay the increased wage?; as from the date named."
