Tho' Titlune arrived from the Eastern Paein-1 this morning. On one. occasion she had. a narrow escape from meeting an oiifciny's cruiser.
A Gorman warship called at an island in the Society Group, at which the Tallino was due, and ma.de enquiries a/a to when tho Talune was expected. The information imparted was not auito accurate, with the result that the Talune never came within the danger area. Tho' Talune arrived at Rarotonga on September 29, and was due at liaiatea on October 3.. On the night of Octo- \ ber 2 "tho wireless operator intercepted ' communications between German cruis-j era wfthin 100 miles radius, and the Ta- j June doubled back to Rarotonga at] double sneed. Subsequently the Talune.] completed her usual itinerary without, incident.
