CAVALRY SERVE IN THE TRENCHES.

PARIS, October 11
British cavalry, during the battle of the Aisnp, bored by inaction, petitioned General Allenby to be allowed to serve
in the trenches. As carbines wero useless. General Allenby armed a third of the cavalry with rifles and bayonets similar to the mounted infantry in the South African War.
