The Coroner found: that Mcßean murdered Miss McAlister, but added a rider that there Avas ample evidence ito show he was not in his normal men|tal condition at the time. the deed was committed. - / ■ .

In Mcßean's -confession .he added. that he and the girl sinned once, and he brooded over .it • everything was black; he was mad; he had always led a clean life before; he considered his father from the start, or he should have I gone into the open and married the! girl, but he knew it would nearly kill his father. ' , '^The letter "concluded: ; "I sinned, then brooded, and then did this. We have both paid for our sin, and have caused misery and suffering to others."
