The fate of Lawrence living's party is unknown. Many survivors' arms and legs are broken. Twelve bodies lie on .tin ■wharf at Rimouski. They were fatally hurt by the collision, but escaped in the lifeboats, and died before landing. Wreckage strews the St. Lawrence v The funnels of the Empress of Ire land are visible at low tide. The Evelyn saved 390, and the Eureka 60. Most, of the members of the crewescaped. Many passengers leaped into 'tj. waters, and clung to wreckage, ti> I escaping. The Storstad is expected to reach i Quebec shortly. She has a number'of survivors and dead-bodies aboard. Scores of prominent Salvation Army officers, including Commissioner Rees, of South Africa, were lost. Twenty-two people are reported to have died as'the result of injuries.
