THE BLOOMFIELD FAMILY.
AUCKLAND, May 30. Mr W. R. Bloomfield and his wife I and daughter, who were passenger<s on the Empress of Ireland, left Auckland on April 12 on a 12 months' tour. |Mr Bloomfield was a barrister and j solicitor, and formerly practised ir Auckland; he was very well-known in 1 hunting and territorial circles, and took a' prominent part in various local bodies, being chairman of the Epsom Road Board. His wife was a wellknown society leader. . '
The Empress of Ireland is a vessel of ld,ooo tons, and was built on the Clyde in 1906. There are several other "Empress" liners,- owned by the C.P.R., running, across the Atlantic, or from Vancouver to Japan. Father Point is on the south bank of the St. Lawrence, about 180 miles from Quebec, and the river there is about 30 miles wide. Some 10 miles further up on the same side is Rimouski, where Customs officers board incoming steamers.
