FOREST FIRES.
' COUNTRY SWEPT BARE. SEVERAL VILLAGES THREATENED. (Received May 29, 12.30 a.m.) ■ OTTAWA/May 28. -, News from St. John,. New Brunswick, states that miles of forest fires' are threatening the villages along the Canadian Pacific railway and sweeping! the country bare over .an area 10 miles wide. Farmers' homes have been destroyed, and - though; there wore many narrow escapes no loss of life has been reported.
