SENATE REJECTS GOVERNMENT BILL. PRIME MINISTER'S POSITION. (Per Press Association—Copyright.) > (Received,. May 29, 9.15 a.m.) MELBOURNE, May 29. The House carried the Government's Preference Prohibition Bill on the casting vote of the Speaker. The Senate rejected the first reading of the Bill by 21 votes to 5, and tin 1 second rejection fulfilled the require- , ments of the Constitution regarding a deadlock, leaving the way open for MiCook (Prime Minister) to make what representations he likes to the Gover-nor-General. ■ • '■
