ASH BURTON STOCK MARKET.

There was a-large attendance at\i the' weekly' stock market held at the !Tinwald yards to-day, when there- was a large yarding of all classes of sheep. The yarding of fat sheep totalled 16b6, as against 976 last week at- Ashburton. There was'a falling.off in fat ewes, but an increase' in iat wethers and fat lambs, and .competition,'.was keen. With freezing buyers operating prices were, very firm,, and every line submitted Was sold by auction, ewes making up to 20s, wethers up to 19s Id, and lambs ,to 20s. Tlie details of the yarding are as follow,' last week's figures being shown in parentheses: — Ewes, 315 (404); .wethers, 133 (37); lambs, 1212 (535). The yarding of store sheep was a large one, and consisted principally of ewes. The sale for stores was one of the best held for somel months, both for quality and prices, and the bulk of the large yarding, totalling 10,545, as compared with-, 6454 for the last sale, was sold by auction at prices from Is to-2s in advance of those reported at late sales. The total yarding t>f all classes of sheep was 12,210, as against 7430 for last week. , The following are the quotations: — Sheep.
