FEDERAL POLITICS.

PRE-SESSIONAL CAMPAIGN.

MR FISHER'S APPEAL

(Per Press Association—Copyright)

(Received March 17, 10.5 a.m.) MELBOURNE, March 17. Mr Andrew Fisher, opening the presessional campaign, appealed to the Government to go to the country, but considered * nothing more ridiculous than a double dissolution. If the Senate dissolved it would become the shuttlecock of political parties and keep the democracy in a state of constant turmoil. This would suit the Government, which welcomed an excuse for doing nothing.
