Mr D. B. O'Connor's comic opera company, "The Arcadians," arrived in Ashburton by the second express from the north tto-day. The Rev. G; B Inglis, who has undertaken the charge of the Mount Albert Church, Auckland, for this year, is, with Mrs Inglis, enjoying good health, and finding his new duties very agreeable. The Prime Minister has announced that Mr John Grigg, of Longbeach, has been appointed vice-president of the Board of Agriculture.. Mr Edwin Hall, of Auckland, is to be one of the Government members of the Board, and the remaining seat will be filled by a representative of the fruit-growing industry. A large number of the friends of Mr and Mrs F. C. Clothier met in the Tinwald Hall last night to bid them farewell and present them with a token of the esteem in which they'are held by the residents of the district. Mr T. Williams, on behalf of those present, presented the guests .of the evening with a handsome silver ..test service, and an oak and silver tray suitably inscribed. Mr Williams 'expressed the loss the district would sustain in Mr Clothier's removal, .but he trusted that Mr and Mrs Clothier in their new sphere would receive ' 'a bountiful supply of this world's goods,' and he wished them and their family good health. Mr J. Cow, on behalf of the Tinwald Swimming and Sportss Club, Mr T. A. C. Pearce, on behalf of. the School Committee, and Messrs R. A. Pearse, W. Hopwood, and EiBrittenden, also spoke' eulogisticallyl; of Mr and Mrs Clothjer, Mr Clothier' briefly responded. ,
