BIG BLAZE IN SYDNEY.

SEVEN-STOREY BUILDING DESTROYED.

One of the biggest city fires for years destroyed the Canada Building, a huge seven-storey structure, m George Street West, occupied by Williams Brothers' Motor Agency. The brigades splendid efforts suc*;eded m. largely restricting the fire to one building, though a number of the adjoining business promises and the branch Bank of New South Wales suffered considerably by fire and water and the toppling walls of the.main building. The caretaker and his wife and four children, living in the top, floor, narrowly escaped. . The fire is still burning, though well in hand. The damage is very large.
