MURDERERS HANGED.
NEW YORK, Dcember 16. A mob lynched two negroes named Ernest and Frank Williams at Shreveport, Louisiana, after they had confessed to 'tne murder of Ballard, a storekeeper, whose- body they had hacked to pieces. ' Ballard had formerly been a prison guard, in which capacity he killed two escaping negroes, for which the Williamses. plotted his death. The Williamsea begged for mercy when the mod overpowered their gaolers, but the mob yelled, " You showed no mercy to Ballard!" V Another lynching occurred at •; Willistpn, North Dakota, where a murderer named- Cuthbertson was hanged by a band of masked men. , The mob battered down the gaol doors with an iron pipe and carried off Cuthbertson and hanged ,him from a bridge spanning the river. They then J riddled his body with bullets. The police interfered, but were badly beaten. ' >■■ /Cuthbertson was Undergoing a life sentence.
