ELMSLIE GOVERNMENT DEFEATED.

(Received December 17, 9.25 a.m.) MELBOURNE, December 17. In the Assembly, after an amendment asking the Governor to grant a dissolution was negatived, Mr Watt's want of confidence motion in the Elmslie Government was carried by 40 to 13. It is understood that Mr Elmslie will not ask for a dissolution, but will resign to-day.
