SUFFRAGETTES PAY COMPENSATION.

TIMBER YARD DESTROYED,

Sylvia Pankhurst has been released. The proprietress of thc'Kew Gardens tea-pavilion sued Olive Wharry and Lilian Lenton, suffragettes, for damages for burning the pavilion. One of the defendants admitted starting the fire: The case was settled by the suffragettes paying compensation. A timber yard at Devonport has been burned, the damage ' being £12,000. The following notice was tied to a post: "In revenge for Mrs Panklvdrst's arrest." : A meeting of the Women's Social and Political Union sent a telegram to the King imploring Mrs Pankhurst's release.
