LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, December 12. The Council met at 2.30 p.m. Prevalence of Disease. In reply to Dr Collins, the Hon. F. H. D. Bell stated that the Government would, during the recess, go into the question of setting up a Royal Commission to inquire into the prevalence or otherwise of certain contagious diseases in the Dominion. ' Reserves and Lands Disposal Bill. The Reserves and Other Lands Disposal Bill was read a second time and passed through the committee stage. Tramway Bill. The amendments made in the Tramway Bill were not agreed to and the, Hon. Messrs W. Hall-Jones, J. Duthie and J. Barr were appointed managers to confer with the Lower House. Workers' Compensation Bill. The AVorkers' Compensation Amendment Bill was read a second time. The Hon. J. T-.. Paul and, Hon. J. |;!Barr entered their"-', protest against measures of such importance to work-' ■ers being brought down at this stage of the session and hurried through. Tramways Bill Conference. The Council adjourned to enable the conference on the Tramways Bill to be ;held. , The Council resumes at 7.45 p.m.
