THE AISGILL SMASH.

' AN EXPERT'S REPORT

TO AVERT FUTURE ACCIDENTS

■ (Received Nov. 26, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, November 25. Major Piingle's report on the Aisgill disaster states that the collision was djae to Oaudle's neglect to observe the signals, .and to his subsequent carelessness and want of caution. The report adds that GuardWhiteley ought to have protected the fii-st train, and responsibility to a small extent rested with him for disregarding the rule, also with Nicholson and Donnelly for abetting him. Major Pringle recommends greater safeguards by means of detonators, coloured flare-] ights, electrically-lighted carriages; steel under-frames, with shock-absorbing buffers, and non-in-flammable timber-work.
