EXPERIMENTAL FARM
CHIEF iNSPECTOR'S VSS!T. Mr H. T. Turner, the Agricultural Department's chief inspector for Canterbury, .was in' Ashburton to-day for ! the purpose of making a casual report i on the land offered by the' Ashburton High School Board for an' experimental, farm. When approached by a "Guardian" reporter he stated that he was unable to give any information regarding the matter until he had first reported to the -Minister- in charge, of the Department. He , did, however, express his appreciation of the site. in question, and said that he regarded: it as an ideal one. The land was not.only central in i^s connection iwith the town, but Ashburton—a -centre of one of the best grain growing and- cropping districts in. tho whole of the Dominion.-—, was a very conveniently situated town. From' his manner, our reporter gathered that, at all .events, Ashburton will, if on merit alone, rank with any other district, in its application for an experimental farm.
