J. K. LOGAN.

• WELLINGTON, _ November 11. News has been received here of tho death, at Port Elizabeth, South Africa, of Mr J .K. Logan, formerly Suporintondeut of Telegraphs in New Zealand, aged 69. Mr Logan joined the Service in' 1865, and was appointed superintendent in 1894. He received tho Imperial Service Order, in 1909, and retired in February; 1911. ■ ' Mr Logan, had gone to South Africa about six weeks ago, accompanied by Miss Logan, to visit a married daughter (Mrs Neave), Mr J. S. Neave was a New Zealander who has been for the past IS to 15 years at Port ;Elizabeth, where he is president of the local Chamber of- Commerce, and occupies other public positions. A brilliant son (Dr. Logan, M.D., London, and F.R.C.S.) died in England not long arxo, and Mr Logan's own father died about 12 months ago.
