Owing to the wet weather, the grain ( crops in the Wakanui district and on all heavy lands are faring rather badly, and a farmer told a " Guardian" reporter to-day that unless there was an early improvement the grain harvest would be a, very poor one. The lighter lands, on the.other hand, can stand a great deal of rain, and mayhe expected to bring forth plenteously. As was the case at this time last year, when the weather was quite as bad or a, little worse, pastures are abundant, and stock are doing well. The cold is rather severe on the- shorn sheep, _ but as tiiey are mostly in good condition, the loss- (if any) will be infinitesimal, unless the present conditions are long sustained. ..',-."•■■..■
