YORK, May 3. .■ News from New Orleans states that the flood conditions m the Lower Mississippi are appalling. Over a hundred thousand persons are, reported to be hbmeless. The water is rushing through a breach m the levees m.the Torras district at the rate of twelve unles an Steamboats have picked up hundreds of marooned persons. Preparations have been made at Baton Rouge to care for them. _ Several towns are inundated, but tne people were rescued.
