ACCIDENTS & DEATHS.
. . . ' ' <m> ■ . Per Press Association. AUCKLAND; February 28. A pathetic case of suicide occurred at Parnell to-day, when a sixteen-year-old lad named George Davies took prussic acid, and was found dead in the shop of his employer. Deceased left a letter to his mother,, saying he was a: rank failure, and was always doing things wrong. The letter concluded: "80, good-bye, and, as I said before, don't fret; I am better where I am." Davies was looked upon as a very promising boy. Mr Atliol Stewart, of Dulce's Vale, and Charles Dean, his chauffeur, met with a peculiar motor accident recently (says the " Timaru Post "). They were crossing from Dulce's Vale, when Mr Stewart noticed that one of the tyres was unduly inflated. Dean got down to investigate, and was in tlie act of unscrewing the valve to release some of the air when the tyre burst. The force of the explosion hurled him several yards, and rendered him tern! porarily unconscious. The concussion blew the top of Mr Stewart's hat clean out. Dean was subsequently found to be totally blind in one eye, and to have sustained, injuries to the face and head. It is expected that he will recover the sight of the injirred eye, but that it will--"be"-■permanently impaired.
