LODGE MEETING.

GOOD TEMPLARS. The weekly session of the Star, of the East Lodge was held last evening in the Orange Hall, with Bro. W. Carroll, C.T. ? presiding. There was a fair attendance of members. After the business was finished, the programme for the evening was to unseat the Chief Templar, which no one succeeded in doing. At last week's meeting of the lodge a presentation was made to Bro. W. Hewitt, who is leaving Ashburton, consisting of ;a handsome Mosgiel travelling rug and straps, as a token of the esteem in which he was held by the members. After the presentation had been made by the C.T., who expressed his regret at losing so capable a worker from the lodge, Bro. W. Hewitt thanked the members for their gift, also for their kind words and wishes. Several other members also spoke highly of Bro. Hewitt, and expressed regret at his loss to: the. lodge.
