! CHRISTCHURCH, February 29. At a meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Boxing Association, Mr J.. R. Evans-'presiding, it was resolved to endorse the suspension of two competitors and two seconds, who had taken part in 'a competition promoted by the- Hawke's Bay Association, and carried out by that body on October 111 and 12, 1911. C. ■F. Herbert, lOamaru, holder of the heavy-weight pi'ofessional championship, wrote in
reply to a challenge from A. B. Ireland (Waipawa) stating that hi-, was prepared to meet Ireland at Christ-inirch, Timaru, or Oamaru towards the end of May or early in June. As neither <;l these bodies could undertake to carry out the contest, it .was decided that a circular: should be forwarded to the other local associations with respect to promoting the match.
