A. ■ South American railroad from Anca, Chile, to La Paz; Bolivia, is able to boast of equipment unique m th*> history of railroading. At its hUrhnsi point it roaches an altitude' of ]<ClO5 feet, making it one of the highest lines in the world. The effect of the quick ascent and great altitude on people having weak or abnormal hearts :is to be counteracted by having oxygen compartments in the passenger cars. Passengers subject to mountain sickness or heart weakness may occupy the oxygen compartments, in which they will have in the air they breathe the same .proportions of oxygen as at sea level. Button," which; tolls the history of a child whese rnnf>t oherialied possession was a button from the tunic oi hu father who had been killed in battle. As the roadiug went on tha boy was grubbing in the ground, and unearthed something which he handed to his father, asking what it was. A little rubbing, and the find turned out to be a button from the uniform of a soldier of the 57th Regiment, which must have lain on Marsland Hill for fifty years, to be recovered at a most appropriate moment."
