ANNIVERSARY NOTES.
Df'oemher 26 is the anniversary of the birth of Thomas C4ray the English poet (17.10), and the deaths of Sir Noel Paton, the great painter (1901), and .Dr. Scliiemaun, archceologisb (1890). On this date, in 1855, the fortified city of Kars capitulated to Russia, after six months' defence by the Turks under General Williams.
