THE WEATHER.
Last evening a keen wind was blowing, and the presence of dark clouds m the sky did not promise well for today. It rained very heavily m some parts of the country during the' night, but to-day the weather was fine, and daring the morning the sun shone intermittently, while the atmosphere was quite warni compared with what has treien experienced .of late. ' The prospects for fine weather at Christmas are a little better, but a sudden change for the- worse would be quite m the general order of things, and would surprise no one. A telegram from Wellington states that very poor weather has been exjjerknced so far this summer. An occasional warm day has been experienced, but no hot ones. The continuous hefavy tvinds have" generally been ■cold, with much rain this week, and the weather lias been more like winter than summer. It was still raining yesterday.
