MOUNT SOMERS
The Weather.
The weather for the last week has been mild and warm, and farmers are hoping it may continue so, as teed is very scarce Teams are all hard at work, and a large area is being ploughed, as most of the young grass paddocks are eaten out with the grass grub. The snow is fast disappearing off the hills, arid runholders are not sorry, as they have had a long time getting the sheep out on to the high, ground. Racing Club. , The annual meeting of the Mount Somers and Springbum Racing Club was held on Saturday night. There was a large attendance. The balancesheet, which showed a credit balance of £209 18s, was considered satisfactory, and on the motion of Mr W. J. Doak, seconded by. Mfc J?- Murray, was adopted. Members spoke very strongly on the action of the Trotting Asso-! ciatiori in allotting the Ashburton Troting Club the 26th of December.for its | .' meeting: After a "good deal of discussion, it was decided to hold the race meeting as usual at Mount Somers oh j that day. ' ;
