x TROOPS FIRE ON THE STRIKERS
TWO MEN KILLED

LONDON, August 20
As a train was entering Llanelly yesterday, a mob, standing on the slopes beside the track, stoned the police and soldiers guarding the line, and also attacked the driver and firemen.
The Worcestershire Regiment advanced, and an officer warned the rioters, but without result. The Riot Act wasi then read, but the crowd only laughed and jeered. An officer fired in the air, and the jeers were renewed.
The troops then fired a volley overhead, and two others at lower range. None of the mob were hit, but of four persons in a garden in the vicinity two were killed, including an invalid from London, and two were severely
injured
Tlie railway men late last night and early to-day, were so incensed at the incident that they destroyed a section of the line, arid held up a troop train at Llandilo Junction. They captured a quantity of ammunition, and looted shops in Llanelly. They also sot fire to trucks of provisions at the railway goods shed, where an explosion killed three and injured several.
Many others were wounded in bayonet charges* by -the': troops in clearing the streets.
Fifty Grenadiers have been sont to Norwood on receipt of a, report -that two men had been shot in a fight round a signal box.
