PALMERSTON NORTH, August 19. The North Tiratu Sawmilling Company's planing mill was totally destroyed by lire at 4.45 a.m. The building was ablaze from end to end when the alarm was given, but the brigade was successful in saving the new suction gas plant installed yesterday at a cost of £1100. The manager and the staff were on the premises-till leven o'clock last night watching the trial run of the new plant, and when they., left everything was apparently safe. The stock and. machinery were insured for £500 in the London and Lancashire Office and for £500 in the Queensland Office, and the building for £150 in the United Office.
