EXPECTED END OF THE STRIKE.

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, August 12. The Acting Premier has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner:—The dock strike affects the importation of meat, etc., from all countries j no special reference to New Zealand. The carters' strike affects London trade. Terms for the carters are new arranged. The dockers', coalers', traders' and allied workers' claims are now under consideration, at a conference of employers and employees. Smithfield is doing a fair business to-day. With .reference to this strike, it is "anticipated the men will resume work early next week!
