RAILWAY MEN'S GRIEVANCES.
LONDON'S'FOOD SUPPLIES THREATENED.
Mr T. Thomas, M.P., secretary »'f the Society of Railway-Men, declared that the discontent has been steadily growing among all grades of employees. Their grievances arc numerous, and in particular there is complete dissatisfaction with the work of the Conciliation Board, which .throughout has favoured the employers; It is also exceedingly difficult to get the decisions put into operation. The combinations and pooling arrangements of the great lines are affecting the workers adversely.. He states that the sitiiationhas arisen spontaneously, the uniori not having organised the strike. Nonunionists are receiving strike pay, and half the strikers are non-unionists Mr Thomas added that London may be completely isolated and its food supplies cut off.
The London Omnibus Company has withdrawn one-third of its omnibuses, owing to a shortage of petrol, only three days' supply remaining. The steamer -Turaldna landed her passengers at Plymouth.
